Captain Cook’s Trail
Legendary explorer Captain James Cook was the first to explore and chart the Bay of Islands in 1767. The scenic drive from Corner Brook along the South shore of the Bay of Islands is known as the Captain Cook Trail. Enjoy the rugged landscape as you travel through the many villages that dot the south shore of the bay and view the many islands which can be viewed from the shoreline. Stop by a local church for some delicious homemade treats, locally made crafts and some foot-stomping traditional music. Captain Cook’s Lookout offers the best view of the City of Corner Brook and features a gorgeous bronze statue of the Captain sculpted by a Newfoundland artist.
